Psoriasis and Diuretics
In Siddha system of medicine, using diuretics in Siddha disorders is a regular custom followed by the practitioners. As far as psoriasis is concerned, removal of toxic elements and auto immune related compounds from the blood stream is essential but in certain cases the drastic diuretics worsening the condition. In fact, skin moister is playing a major role and for this cause, medicated oils are repeatedly applied over the lesions for betterment.

Herbal Treatment For Psoriasis
Herbs used for psoriasis
Karisalai (Eclipta alba), Kodiveli (Plumbago zeylanica), Vallarai (Centella asiatica), Karunjeeragam (Nigella sativa), Nellikkai (Emblica officinalis), Kadukkai (Terminalia chebula), Thandrikkai (Terminalia bellerica), Vasambu (Acorus calamus), Parangipattai (Smilax chinensis), Amukkara (Withania somnifera), Athimathuram (Glycyrriza glabra), Kuppaimeni (Acalypa indica), Vellarugu (Enicostemma littorale), Vilwam (Aegle marmelos), Aruganpul (Cyanodon dactylon), Avuri (Indigofera tinctoria), Vembu (Azadiracta indica), are some of the important medicinal plants used in the preparations in different combinations for psoriasis. In psoriatic arthritis along with higher medicines, medicines made up of Kungiliyam (Shorea robusta), Amukkara (Withania somnifera), Nochi (Vitex nigandu), Avuri(Indigofera tinctoria), Inji (Zingiber officinale), Poondu (Allium sativum), Milaku (Piper nigrum), Mudakkatran, Omum, Serankottai (Semicarpus anacardium) are being used in different combinations in combating psoriasis. Vallarai (Centella asiatica), Brahmi (Bacopa munneri), Sadamanjil, Kasakasa are used to reduce stress. Arukan kudineer, the blood purifier is being used to relieve itching.

Nature of psoriatic condition
Psoriasis is a disease characterized by erythematous (redness of the skin) and indurated (thickening) patches, covered with silvery scales and associated with itching at times. On scraping of scales, pin point haemorrhage will be seen. This disease may affect anyone irrespective of race, religion, age, sex, country, season, socio-economical status etc. If the disease is not controlled with proper treatment, joints may be targeted in its chronic process however, the disease is not contagious.

WORLD AIDS DAY
Out of 48 lakhs AIDS patients in Asia, 49 percentage are Indians. As a Siddha doctor, it is our duty to make the people to aware of AIDS and its complications, prevention and care the sufferers with the virtues of Siddha.
