Diet restriction in Psoriasis

This instruction is applicable especially for Indians.

In vegetable category, brinjal, bitter guard, pumpkin, jack fruit, unripe mango, tamarind should be avoided. Sour taste food substances, better to be avoided. Fruits like lemon, orange, pine apple could be restricted. Non vegetarian items are not advisable for these patients. Fast food and soft drinks should not be encouraged.

Aggravation of Psoriasis

It may happen during winter in majority of cases. Oil application should be encouraged during these days. Non- vegetarian food also the reason for aggravation. Patient should avoid sour taste items.

Is psoriasis a contagious disease?

No. Absolutely not, since it is not due to infection in origin. Contact with affected person will not create any problem for others. In my clinical practice I treat numerous persons with this complaint; no report had been obtained in this basis. Personal hygiene is essential for these patients to avoid opportunistic fungal which leads to itching, beside dry nature of skin considered one among the cause. If any discharge or pus collection is seen at the site of excoriation, a suitable form of antibiotic could be given to manage instantly.

Psoriasis and Siddha medicine
